Recycle in Your Garden After Use
The used Kitty's Crumble (with solid waste removed) is a valuable resource when used as a water-saving soil conditioner for your garden.
Simply dig or trowel the recycled bedding into the soil of your garden beds, or into the soil around your trees. This will greatly improve the condition of your soils and water holding capacity.
You can also spread recycled bedding on your lawns as a top dressing. Simply spread the recycled bedding over your lawns with a rake. Over time it will improve the condition and water holding capacity of the soil.
Recycle as a Potting Media After Use
Recycled bedding can also be blended with soil or other potting media at a rate of approximately 20% recycled bedding with 80% other media to make a rich potting or planting mix. After placing the mix in your pots, water it thoroughly and let the water run off for a few minutes before planting. Never use recycled bedding as a straight potting mix (at a rate of 100%).
Recycle as a Hydroponic Growing Media After Use
Recycled bedding can be used at a rate of 100% as a hydroponic growing media. After filling your containers, water thoroughly and let the water run off for a few minutes before planting. Follow the fertilizer instructions for your specific hydroponic crop.
Recycle in Your Compost Bin
Recycled Kritter's Crumble makes an excellent additive for your green waste composting.
Simply add the used bedding to your composting bin. The unique properties of the bedding will reduce odour, speed up the composting process and result in a more enriched compost for latter use in your garden.
